Northlands Redevelopment Update
The plan to redevelop the Northlands site continues to move forward. Planning permission has now been obtained and we are currently in the final stages of agreeing the legal terms before putting the building contract out to tender, with the anticipation of the building work commencing early in 2010.
This redevelopment will result in a new purpose built young person’s Homeless Centre with increased provision for 16-17 year olds, a Social Enterprise Centre and will also produce affordable housing units.

The Salvation Army
is proposing to redevelop the Northlands site. The Welsh Assembly has introduced new standards for homeless hostel accommodation, which must be met by 2011. The current hostel will not comply with these standards after this date and so our plan is to build a new 26 bed hostel near the front of the site leaving the remainder of the land available for the development of affordable housing.
